Celebrations. Moments. Stories.

Memorable Kathy

Good day!

Sharing a double exposure portrait of my friend Kathy who is also a portrait photographer. This session is quite memorable as I learned a couple of things. Photographers are indeed one of the more challenging subjects to shoot as we are more familiar with composition, lighting and other photo related concepts and even if we do not explicitly say it, we have certain expectations of how our photo will turn out given the correct settings. I sensed a certain self-consciousness from her in the beginning and a lack of trust in me so even though there was some awkwardness in the air, I had to try making her feel as relaxed and as confident in me as possible. Honestly, it hurts the ego to not be instantly trusted but then it also broadens perspective. People in front of the camera often feel vulnerable. We could never expect them to bare themselves fully and at once. We need to be patient and wait for moments.
